Letter:
Family Fund says thanks
Thursday, November 3, 2005
The Marblehead Family Fund’s third annual
Pumpkin Fair was a success, thanks to Pumpkin
Fair organizers Susan Bragdon, Nicole Fiegener
and Kristy McGrath who worked tirelessly
to plan this great family event.
Despite the cold and damp weather, over
200 children had fun trying their luck at
the pumpkin toss and filled up on donuts
hanging from a string. They had their faces
painted and created some real pumpkin treasures
to take home, along with a photo to remember
their day, so graciously donated by Photo
Swift.
We are grateful for our committed and enthusiastic
crew of parent volunteers, including Elena
Arthur, Caroline Corsini, Yunita Farrar,
Kathryn Cronin, Marci Gallup, Eileen Dwortz,
Grace Cole, Nancy Golden, Heather and Roy
Martin, Diane Sears, Tinabeth and Andrew
Burton, Bob Bragdon, Paul Schauder, Cate
Mann, Debora Collison, Julie Migliore, Kerry
Zurn, Stellio Sinnis, Lydia Smyers, Jeannie
and Charlie Garrard, Lisa Hoguet, Becky
Veprek, Jillian Orozco. We would also like
to extend a special thank you to Louise
Moore for coming down and sharing her pumpkin-carving
skills and Shanna McCarriston who shared
her talent helping boatloads of kids make
artwork out of pumpkins!
Marblehead is lucky to have its own Farmers
Market and we were lucky to have teamed
up again this year with Don Morgan and the
Farmers Market committee. They offered help,
advice and encouragement from start to finish.
Additionally, we offer a big thanks to Homan
Electric and Walter Homan for volunteering
his trailer to haul pumpkins to the fair,
Recreation Director Mike Lane for his continuous
help and dedication to this town and Osborne’s
Florist and Greenhouse and Marblehead Garden
Center for very generous pumpkin donations.
We are thankful for their support of the
Pumpkin Fair, the Marblehead Family Fund
and for simply adding so wonderfully to
the culture of our community.
We would also like to thank Cider Hill Farm,
Clark Farm, Bear Hill Farm and Don Morgan
and the Farmers Market Committee for generously
donating pumpkins and donuts that were the
hit of the day. [continue]
Funds raised from thisevent will go to Dollars
for Devereux, our fund-raising campaign to
assist the Park and Recreation Department
with repairs and improvements at Devereux
Beach, and TeamUp, the speaker series that
partners parents, youth and schools.
