Creative volunteers from over thirty local
businesses and organizations are donating
their energy and talents to the Marblehead
Family Fund's Festival of Wreaths, a town-wide
exhibition and charity silent auction beginning
December 2nd, during the Marblehead Christmas
walk.
"Each generous volunteer is creating
a unique and memorable piece of our town.
We are overwhelmed with the enthusiasm for
this new holiday tradition," said Darcy
Mayers, co-president of the Marblehead Family
Fund. Mayers cited the two Bud Orne memorial
wreaths donated by the Orne family, saying
they are "the next best things to his
beloved painted rocks. These wreaths are
a wonderful way to honor his memory and
all that he gave to this town."
Co-president Amy Cunningham added, "We've
gotten a sneak preview at some of the wonderful
ideas going into the wreaths from this diverse
and exciting group of decorators. We are
so fortunate to live in a town filled with
such enthusiasm and pride, and the wreaths
and their volunteer decorators embody that
spirit."
The wreaths, donated in part by Osborne
Florist, will be available for bid by silent
auction beginning Friday December 2 through
December 9, and can also be viewed at www.marbleheadfamilyfund.com
in the coming weeks.
Additionally, the website will feature a
directory of locations to find and bid on
wreaths.
Bidders can win wreaths from: Katie Reilly/Slow
Please; the Marblehead Police Department;
the Marblehead Park and Recreation Department
(two entries); The Marblehead Reporter;

the harried mother.
Wreaths will be on display in store fronts
in the downtown, Atlantic and Pleasant Street
retail neighborhoods where they will be
available for auction. The unsuspecting
high bidder of the randomly selected Golden
Cod Wreath (they will only know when they
buy it!) will win four Patriots tickets
and a $75 Gift Certificate to use while
shopping in Marblehead.
The Marblehead Family Fund encourages everyone
to get in the spirit by supporting these
"artists" by bidding on a wreath
(or two). That way, when someone asks, "Have
you bid?", you can proudly say, "YES!"
To the wreaths!
